The government on Sunday appointed Karnataka cadre IPS officer Praveen Sood as the next director of Central Bureau of Investigation. Sood, a 1986 batch officer, is currently the director general of police (DGP) of Karnataka. In March, Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar had called Sood 'nalayak' (useless), alleging that he had filed 'more than 25 cases' against Congress while protecting BJP leaders.
