The China-leaning Mohamed Muizzu government of the Maldives has asked New Delhi for clarification on why Indian Coast Guard personnel boarded three Maldivian fishing vessels that were within its exclusive economic zone without consultation. India has not responded to the allegations. The Maldivian defence ministry said the "personnel were members of the boarding teams of Indian Coastguard Ships 246 and 253".
